DARTS...
At System Engineering Design, we have combined our working knowledge with the latest
software design tools in an iterative process called DARTS. Functional areas of
the system are completed and presented to the users throughout the system life cycle.
User feedback is vital and is required at each step of the process. This ensures
that customer's needs are understood and met as the system life cycle progresses.
Definition
Stating the need is a vital system engineering task. This means identifying customers,
understanding customer needs, discovering requirements and defining system functions.
This is also where user functional areas are identified.
Alternatives
System design alternatives are investigated and evaluated based on performance,
cost, and risk.
Requirements Testing
Clarifies needs, reveals bottlenecks and fragmented activities, reduces cost and
exposes duplication of efforts.
Testing; Unit/System/Performance
Unit - Individual components of the system are tested to make sure they work individually.
System - Units are tested together to ensure they work as a whole. This requires
communication and coordination.
Performance - All components of the system are tested for speed, clarity, and security.
System Maintenance and Re-evaluation
Maintenance and re-evaluation will be a continual process.
